After graduating from the Department of Music of Kobe College in Hyogo, Japan, where Kyoko Yamamoto majored in piano performance, she got a chance to compose and perform music for a TV drama broadcasted by Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in 1990. She has regularly appeared on stages and has performed works for 2 pianos. At the same time, she started to arrange Piazzolla’s works for 2 pianos. Performances of her arrangements created a big sensation, and it led a first publication of her first Piazzolla arrangements in 2000. In 2005, Kyoko formed piano duo ‘mumuki’ with Yuca Takeda. Their main repertoire includes Piazzolla’s works arranged by Kyoko.
Until today, Kyoko has published many music books both in and out of Japan, and they are highly evaluated by not only amateurs but also renowned artists. Now Kyoko’s sounds are delivered to fascinated large audiences around the world.
Her works has been performed by well-known artists such as Piano duo Kutrowatz, Kathryn Stott, Yo-Yo Ma, Ashley Wass, Tine Thing Helseth, Marianna Shiriynyan, Rintaro Akamatsu, and also has been played in many music festivals such as London Piano Festival (UK), klangfruehling, Liszt Festival, Laxenburger Schlosskonzerte (Austria), Klangsommer (Japan) MARTHA ARGERICH PRESENTS PROJECT.
